The Smithsonian American Art Museum is seeking applications for a full-time permanent curator with a specialization in the work of African American artists. The curator will propose and implement innovative exhibitions for gallery and web presentation and collaborate with other SAAM curators to propose acquisitions and interpret the collections. The curator will have responsibility for nurturing relationships with collectors, donors, artists, and dealers that lead to acquisitions. The successful candidate should have a track record of organizing exhibitions and writing catalogues as well as public speaking experience.

An M.A. in American Art History or related field is desirable; a Ph.D. is preferred. Applications must be submitted through www.usajobs.gov. https://www.usajobs.gov/GetJob/ViewDetails/478687100. The Smithsonian is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
