    The Steffen Thomas Legacy Archive Project Manager will have responsibility for leading a two-year project for the Steffen Thomas Museum and Archives dba Steffen Thomas Museum of Art (STMA). This single-artist museum and archive is dedicated to the art, life, and legacy of Steffen Thomas (1906-1990), German immigrant and prolific master artist.

    The ST Legacy Project Manager will report to the Museum Director to ensure successful implementation of all project activities and manage relations with the funding agency.

    This is a full-time contract position working thirty-five (35) hours per week for two years, with a flexible schedule and some work-from-home opportunities.

    Salary: $38,500-$42,500 annually for a two-year contract, commensurate with education and experience, within grant guidelines.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Manage the Steffen Thomas Legacy Project that includes digitization and cataloging of art, printed materials, photographs, audio/visual content, and other archival material into existing collections management system (PastPerfect) and publishing a curated selection in the online searchable database (PastPerfect Online through STMA website), through the following:

    • ·         Provide strategic leadership to define and develop project work plan
    • ·         Develop collections management policy in collaboration with STMA staff and content specialist, and in adherence with American Alliance of Museums ethics, standards, and professional practices
    • ·         Create training materials and train museum staff on collections management policy
    • ·         Collaborate with content specialist to contextualize materials
    • ·         Publish content online (PastPerfect Online through STMA website)
    • ·         Attend staff and Board of Directors meetings as required and provide consistent reports on project progress to the Museum Director
    • ·         Prepare and submit all required narrative and financial reports to the funding agency
    • ·         Manage adherence to project timeline and budget in consultation with the Museum Director

    EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

    • ·         Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree or PhD candidate with related research interests preferred
    • ·         Experience with collections management required; experience with PastPerfect preferred
    • ·         Demonstrated successful professional experience as a project manager and supervisor
    • ·         Experience with grant management and reporting
    • ·         Ability to work independently and travel as needed. Work will be based at the Steffen Thomas Museum in Buckhead, Georgia, located between Atlanta and Augusta, GA.
