Exhibit Specialist
Location: Mississippi Museum of Natural Science, 2148 Riverside Drive, Jackson, MS 39202

Starting salary: $51,693.41
Position Overview
The Mississippi Museum of Natural Science seeks a dynamic and creative Exhibit Specialist, with a focus on graphic design, to lead the development, installation, and maintenance of engaging exhibits. This role is central to shaping the museum’s public experience through innovative design, educational storytelling, and the integration of emerging technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct, research, and conceptualize compelling exhibitions that align with the museum’s mission and scientific focus
- Design and oversee the installation of both permanent and temporary exhibits, including layout planning, object placement, graphic integration, and lighting design
- Manage the ongoing care, cleaning, and technical upkeep of exhibitions, ensuring content remains current and visually impactful
- Create interpretive and educational materials such as brochures, posters, audio guides, and interactive components to enhance visitor engagement
- Monitor trends in museum exhibition design and proactively incorporate new technologies and methodologies to elevate the visitor experience
Qualifications & Skills
- Master’s degree in Museum Studies, Exhibition Design, Fine Arts, or a related discipline
- Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in exhibition development or a closely related field
- Proficiency in graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite)
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across departments
- Familiarity with interactive media, digital displays, and multimedia technologies
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines with attention to detail
