This is a fulltime position located at the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame and Northwest Louisiana History Museum in Natchitoches, LA.
Minimum Qualifications
A bachelor's degree plus four years of museum experience, or experience in history or art history, anthropology or archaeology work, fine arts, historical or cultural geography, education, or folklife studies; OR
A master’s degree in a humanities field, museology, education, or fine arts plus three years of museum experience, or experience in history or art history, anthropology or archaeology work, fine arts, historical or cultural geography, education, or folklife studies; OR
A Ph.D. in a humanities field, museology, education, or fine arts plus two years of museum experience, or experience in history or art history, anthropology or archaeology work, fine arts, historical or cultural geography, education, or folklife studies

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
30%
- Create, promote, and implement regularly occurring special events and programs for adults and children.
- Works with appropriate staff to sustain and grow the museum’s programming, marketing (print, digital, and word of mouth), public and private tours, coordinates facility rentals, rental contracts, payments, and mission-related activities.
- Increase community outreach and friends board development to meet the organization’s needs.
- Attends special events and conferences promoting museum activities. Presents lectures.

- Takes the lead in registration and curatorial duties, receiving and returning loan items, developing new exhibits, and writing grants for funding for programs and exhibitions.

- Plans, proposes, and coordinates the general maintenance and minor repairs to the facility, plans, and implements community outreach programs and presentations in consultation with the Division Director.
- Acts as liaison between the museum and community partners and its support groups.

- Interviews job applicants make hiring recommendations to the appointing authority.
- Coordinates the work of all subordinate staff at Natchitoches facilities. Makes assignments, directs the work, and evaluates the work of subordinates.
- Conducts performance planning and reviews. Councils and disciplines subordinates when necessary on performance issues.
- Approves annual sick leave request.
- Makes recommendations regarding merit increases to appointing authority.

- Prepares management reports such as budget proposals, personnel, operational activities, visitation, and vehicle use.
- Approves routine purchase requests of the branch.
- Establishes a procedure for the accounting of admission receipts and bank deposits.

- Works to promote branch activities.
- Greets the public and schedules and conducts tours of facilities.

- Other related duties as assigned.

Work Schedule: This is a fulltime position that make be required to work overtime and travel.
