ACAC is looking for a hustler to join our small but highly motivated team. Applicants should be excited about building a new vision of what museum arts education can be, and able to work in collaboration and across departments to create innovative answers to community specific needs. The Curator of Education is a full-time exempt member of senior staff. This position is a strategic thought-partner, and direct report to the Executive Director (ED). ACAC requires a community minded leader that will develop and lead educational initiatives in the areas of adult education, professional development and studio membership for artists, K-12 education and multiple forms of outreach.
The Education Department at Alabama Contemporary is a hiring engine for artists throughout the community and support mechanism for local creative production. The Curator of Education plays a critical role in collaborating across departments in strategic decision making to enhance meaningful community engagement and build capacity for the organization as a whole.

We are looking for a thought-leader to steward a collaborative vision for the Education Department at ACAC as a whole. Successful applicants will be community-minded and social-impact driven in their work. We are considering applicants from outside the museum field, but some level of community organizing and education experience is a must. Studio practice degree is a major plus, but not required.
A $1,200.00 re-location reimbursement will be made to any successful candidate moving from outside a 100 mile radius of Mobile for the position, after 3 weeks of work.
