    Position Overview

    The Momentary is a new center for contemporary visual and performing arts as well as culinary discovery in Bentonville, Arkansas, slated to open in 2020. The Momentary is a subsidiary of Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art.

    The Public Relations Manager will serve as a key member of the Momentary team and extension of the Crystal Bridges’ communication department, working to expand awareness of the Momentary and its offerings. The Public Relations Manager will support strategic goals through media relations, social media, and eMarketing for the Momentary, or other venues including Crystal Bridges.  

    The ideal candidate is collaborative and hands-on with a passion for contemporary performing arts, connecting to our visitors, and the ability to create campaign strategies and compelling content that reaches diverse communities. 

    Primary Responsibilities and Duties

    • Manage content calendar and campaign strategy for Momentary’s owned media channels including social media, eNewsletters, website, and other promotions.
    • Manage and cultivate positive relationships with the media and respond to press inquiries, identify spokespeople, secure clearances as necessary, prepare messaging and visuals, and act as spokesperson/liaison during press visits.
    • Develop message platforms for internal and external audiences, and maintain brand standards and style guides. 
    • Manage email plans, oversee list segmentation from Tessitura software; write, design, and send eNewsletters through email system, such as Wordfly.
    • Oversee social media presence, create social media plans, schedule posts, select images and videos, and monitor engagement to increase brand awareness.
    • Maintain relationships with social influencers and plan/execute influencer events.
    • Research industry best practices for all channels, ensuring the Momentary is compliant with industry standards, regulations, and upgrades.
    • Generate monthly data reports for press, eNews, and social media, tracking overall campaign effectiveness including click/open rates, engagement, reach, etc. 


    Essential Qualifications

    Education, Training, and Traits:

    • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or related field.
    • Superb writing and editing skills and a strong sense of storytelling.
    • Applicants share the belief that arts and culture experiences are for social good and a positive, dynamic force for economic development.   

    Work Experience:

    • Minimum of five years of related work experience
    • A high level of professional integrity and the ability to handle sensitive issues and situations with discretion.
    • Knowledge of performing art including music, theater, dance and/or museums with arts marketing, is considered a plus.

    Skills and Abilities:

    • Strong writing and listening skills and a demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and professionally.
    • Ability to assess and synthesize media landscape for issues and opportunities to inform media planning, pacing and promotion.
    • Ability to be effective in fast-paced working environments with deadlines.
    • Digital savvy professional, open to learning a variety of platforms and applications, both for internal and external communications.
    • Organizational planning, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
    • Understanding of PR, eMarketing, social platforms and experience managing campaigns and reporting on metrics.
    • Methodical project management and execution skills.
    • Ability to interact respectfully, collegially, and professionally with all employees and volunteers at all levels of responsibility.
    • Ability and willingness to be a team player both within the department, and throughout the entire organization.

    • Physical demands:  :  In the work environments described below, position requires working at desk/workstation and utilizing a computer and telephone for prolonged periods of time, good eye/hand coordination, verbal and written conversation with others. Vision abilities required by the job include close vision.  Vision and hearing abilities to perform the essential duties as outlined above.
    • Work Environment:  Work will be performed in a theater and concert hall environment, museum and other performance spaces, and in communities served. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate, with the exception of concert performances. Position might require some independent overnight travel for touring of national and international coproductions and other travel as necessary to fulfill responsibilities of the position.
