    Position Summary:

    The Michael C. Carlos Museum is currently seeking a highly qualified candidate to work as the Director of Marketing and Communication. The Director of Marketing and Communication reports to the Director of the Museum and directs and implements all communications, public relations and marketing functions at the Museum. 


    Job Duties:

    • ·         Responsible for the integrated communication and promotion of divisional programs and services. 
    • ·         Develops and directs marketing strategies for the Museum. 
    • ·         Serves as the primary liaison to the media, continuously cultivating media contacts and coordinating all media-related events. 
    • ·         Connects the Museum with its many current and potential audiences through a combination of print, digital, and broadcast marketing, which includes social media, advertising buys, and editorial coverage. 
    • ·         Collaborates with others to develop and implement programs and communications materials for target audiences that enhance awareness and utilization of divisional programs and services. 
    • ·         Contracts with vendors to develop ad content, video marketing products, website features, effective promotional materials, etc. 
    • ·         Oversees the effective use of the museum website to educate and to promote activities and programs. 
    • ·         Responsible for publishing newsletter and e-newsletters.
    • ·         Manages budgets for public relations and marketing. 
    • ·         May assist in evaluating, measuring, and responding to issues related to the quality of services provided. 
    • ·         May conduct evaluations, surveys, and focus groups to assist in quality improvement efforts. 
    • ·         Researches constituents' satisfaction with divisional programs and services.
    • ·         Works closely with other members of the Museum staff to ensure the Museum reaches its largest, broadest, and most diverse audience. 
    • ·         Leads projects as assigned. 
    • ·         Serves on the Museum executive leadership team that advises the Director. 
    • ·         Performs related responsibilities as required.  



    • ·         A bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing, or a related field.
    • ·         Three years of public relation or marketing experience or an equivalent combination of educations, training, and experience.
    • ·         Knowledge of publishing or other related software.
    • ·         Demonstrated creativity in design of marketing, public relations, or educational programs and communications materials.
