POSITION OVERVIEW
The Heritage House Manager is a professional, senior level position responsible for managing a broad range of daily activities, events, tours, and visitor experiences at the Heritage House, located in the heart of historic Africatown. This position oversees the facility and several employees. This position is also responsible for developing and strengthening partnerships with the Africatown community and for developing resources that reach a broad and diverse range of Museum visitors.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Typical duties include, but are not limited, to:
• Train, supervise, and schedule front desk staff to work effectively with the public • Open and close Heritage House during operating hours
• Coordinate the Heritage House docent program
• Conduct daily inspections to ensure that high standards of appearance, cleanliness, and readiness are maintained
• Conduct tours of the Heritage House as needed
• Build relationships with community members and organizations, finding ways within the Museum’s mission to partner and support community efforts
• Develop and implement various Africatown Heritage House programs and events
• Schedule and book school tours and other group tours of Heritage House
• Greet visitors and groups, make sure they have a smooth check-in and provide information they need
• Participate in outside activities that are judged as appropriate to enhance the visibility of the History Museum/Heritage House as a contributing member of the cultural community
• Coordinate with other History Museum of Mobile departments as needed, including, but not limited to, marketing, exhibits, facilities, and education.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. At least two years of supervisory experience required.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Normal office and museum gallery environment, as well as outdoor work in a variety of weather conditions for events. This position involves sitting, bending, and walking and standing for extended periods of time. Occasional lifting of objects weighing up to twenty (30) pounds is also required. Computer usage involving repetitive hand and wrist motion is also necessary.
HOURS AND BENEFITS
Full-time, exempt position. The schedule is Tuesday – Saturday from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Occasionally, this position will be required to work evenings for events and programs. The starting salary for this position will be $50,000 and is eligible for a 401(k) account, dental, vision, and health insurance.
