The Wolfsonian–FIU seeks a detail-oriented cataloger to carry out the systematic documentation and rehousing of a significant special collection of 20th-century medallions and poster stamps. This time-limited project represents a critical phase in the preservation and accessibility of these objects for research and exhibition. Working closely with the museum registrars, the cataloger will be responsible for creating comprehensive records in both spreadsheet and database systems, ensuring that all objects are accurately measured, photographed, and securely rehoused according to conservation standards.
The project is approximately six months in length, with the possibility of extension. Both full-time and part-time schedules are available.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create detailed, standardized catalog records using spreadsheet and database systems (Proficio Rediscovery), including measurements, condition assessments, and documentation of materials, provenance, and historical significance.
- Coordinate with museum photographer and organize photographic files.
- Rehouse objects in archival-quality materials following conservation best practices and maintain accurate location records.
- Collaborate with museum Registrars to ensure catalog alignment with institutional standards and policies.
COMPENSATION: $25/hr
