Position Description
The Part-Time Adult Programs Associate provides organizational and logistical support to the Head of Learning and Engagement to implement high-quality, engaging and inclusive onsite and outreach programs for college-age, adult and older-adult audiences. This role reports to the Head of Learning & Engagement.
Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions
- Processes registrations, sends surveys, tracks statistics, and manages evaluations for all adult programs to produce reports for Head of Learning & Engagement and Director of Finance & Operations as needed.
- Works closely with the Head of Learning & Engagement to create and monitor adult public program budgets and spending.
- Manages program logistics by reserving spaces, preparing contracts and paperwork, coordinating across departments, communicating timelines and details, and working with performers and talent to ensure smooth event execution.
- Supports organizing and overseeing lectures, artist talks, panel discussions and other special events within the Learning & Engagement Department, in collaboration with the Head of Learning & Engagement.
- Collaborates with the Head of Learning & Engagement and the L&E team to develop, manage and deliver Museum programs from concept through completion while ensuring alignment with the Museum’s collection and special exhibitions. This includes, but is not limited to, the design, planning, management and facilitation of Community Days, Weekend Public Tours, Third Thursdays, Wellness events, and adult film, music, dance and performance programs.
Special Requirements
This year-round, part-time, position (25 hours per week) requires a flexible schedule to accommodate programs, events, and after-hours work including some weekend and evening hours. Compensation includes a salary range of $20-22 an hour depending on experience. This part-time position is exempt from all benefits, including paid time off, health insurance, and retirement benefits. The incumbent should have a valid driver’s license and be able to navigate the Museum’s building/grounds for programs, and to travel periodically for meetings or Museum business.
Education/Experience Requirements
- Must have excellent writing, editing, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills, including public speaking.
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
- Must be flexible and able to work independently, collaboratively, and effectively in a fast-paced, creative environment.
- Working knowledge of website content management systems (WordPress) and workflow management tools (e.g., Trello) a plus
- Demonstrated program management experience required - experience in a museum, gallery, or education setting a plus.
- Undergraduate degree in art education, art history, material culture, museum education, museum studies, studio art, education or related field a plus.
- Fluency in a second language (Spanish and/or ASL), and experience working with people with disabilities a plus.
