    ABOUT MOCA GA

The Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia (MOCA GA) collects, exhibits, and archives significant, contemporary works by artists of the state of Georgia. Our programs promote the visual arts by creating a forum for active interchange between artists and the community.

MOCA GA's vision is to continue to be an essential part of Georgia’s thriving arts ecosystem. MOCA GA’s scheduled programs and events are intended to accomplish three key objectives: 1) to preserve and support the work of Georgia’s most notable artists 2) to create opportunities for an intimate connection between those artists and the community at large 3) to make contemporary art accessible to all people and create programs to reach underserved communities. MOCA GA, as a museum, is artist-centered. Our programs operate on trust. The Museum trusts the talent and capabilities of Atlanta’s local creative community and the artists who live and work in the city.

By supporting local artists through programs that sustain them financially, exhibitions that bring them recognition, and the collection and archives that preserve their history, MOCA GA is providing key leadership toward a positive shift in our community. The exhibitions transfigure the galleries into environments that can be peaceful, healing, challenging, confronting, and mesmerizing. The goal is to inspire all audience members, to activate their imaginations, to create a place of calm contemplation, and to encourage young people to understand that a career as an artist is something that they can aspire to and achieve.
