GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
This position provides direct assistance to the Arts & Historical Director/Curator at the Oconee History Museum and the General Store Museum. Performing a variety of work in operations, administration, maintenance, customer service, programming and management support, as well as assisting with related arts and historical functions throughout the County as assigned. The position performs routine to complex clerical, administrative, accounting and programming work and provides general day to day support of effective and efficient department operations. The position works within a general outline of work to be performed and develops work methods under general supervision. Reports directly to Arts & Historical Director/Curator.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
- Assist with daily operations
- Provide administrative support to the Arts & Historical Director/Curator
- Create, promote and conduct educational and community outreach programs
- Create and manage program budgets
- Evaluate programs and provide monthly reports
- Assist with management of museum collections and exhibit development
- Assist with special events and fundraisers as necessary
- Respond to requests for research assistance
- Perform routine bookkeeping and accounting work
- Develop and disseminate marketing materials for programs & special events.
- Develop and manage social media content for Oconee History Museum & General Store Museum

Additional duties include:
Provide a wide range of concierge duties to residents, visitors and guests.
Assist in public relations by telephone or in person by helping visitors.
Plan/participate/educate in tour groups, special events, career days, and civic groups as requested.
Disseminate information to public including rules, procedures and general information.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- The educational recommended for this position is: Bachelors Degree
- Education may be substituted for experience.
- Related-experience recommended: 2 years.
- Experience may be substituted for education.

- Bachelor’s Degree in Arts, History, Public History, Museum Studies, or related field.
- Microsoft Office, Internet, Social Media, Interpersonal skills
- Desktop publishing
- Knowledge of Oconee County history, landmarks and attractions
- Familiarity with PastPerfect and WordPress
