    Membership Manager

    Salary – $50,000.00 - $65,000.00 Annually

    The South Carolina State Museum Foundation (SCSMF) is seeking a motivated and experienced Membership Manager to join our team.  The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining and building relationships with members and ensuring their continued engagement in and support for the South Carolina State Museum’s educational mission and initiatives. Responsibilities include but are not limited to developing and implementing member appeals; communicating with and stewarding members; maintaining member information; and supporting the Foundation's leadership in the execution of its overall fundraising goals, strategies and current Capital Campaign.  The ideal candidate will be a strong multi-tasker, have outstanding communication, interpersonal, and research skills, work well under limited supervision and be extremely organized. Most importantly, they should have a passion for fostering meaningful connections with members.

    • Responsible for overseeing all aspects of membership recruitment, retention and engagement. 
    • Develop and implement strategies to grow our membership base, enhance member satisfaction and drive revenue growth to $300,000 plus. 
    • Analyze membership data to identify trends, opportunities and areas for improvement. 
    • Cultivate relationships with current and prospective members to understand their needs and preferences.
    • Represent the organization at community events to promote membership benefits and opportunities. 
    • As the Membership Manager you are a key player in the Foundation Department, serving as the main point of contact for member inquiries and renewal processes, while also being the lead for our membership database management.
    • As a Membership Manager, you will offer personalized member-facing service when needed, while completing behind the scenes tasks that require accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to handle a variety of projects.
    • Administration/supervision of general membership program; member benefit fulfillment, relationship-building.
    • Dissemination of new member/renewal membership packets; dissemination of monthly member renewal appeals; coordination/facilitation of Member Days.
    • generating membership reports from Gateway; generation of new members; in conjunction with Foundation bookkeeper, provide Foundation Director fund reports from Gateway monthly, or as requested.
    • Lead part-time staff and volunteer coordination/Supervision: Supervise/schedule part-time employees responsible for on-site membership sales and monthly renewals.
    • Oversee donor database management assistance; entry of records for new members, renewing members, & payroll deduction members.
    • Build relationships with existing members. 
    • Identify opportunities for advertising revenue growth and benefit enhancement.
    • Collaborate with the Museum’s Department of Communications & Marketing to create. compelling member materials, including impact reports and stewardship updates. 
    • Ensure processing of accounts to maintain membership revenue growth.
    • Provide next-level service, answering daily member calls, emails and questions.
