    The National WWII Museum is currently seeking a Director of Capital Projects Construction TheDirectoris responsible for managing all new construction projects from design through the close out of the warranty period, ending one year after project completion. These projects will vary in scope and complexity from renovating current facilities to new ground up construction. 

    The Director will act as the point of contact between museum professionals and contracted vendors to maintain effective communication and information flow. They will maintain all project records, timelines, financials and communications in an efficient, organized and compliant manner. The Director will also prepare project status reports and work to ensure plans and construction activities adhere to the contract documents and design intent. 

    The Director reports to the Vice President of Capital Projects and Facilities. 

    Responsibilities: 

    • Oversee multiple museum projects and report to the VP Capital Projects and Facilities. 

    • Understand all project documents.  

    • Manage bid selection process in accordance with Museum policies and industry best practices.  

    • Develop and coordinate the execution of all project contracts and any associated change orders and track them to the Board-approved budget. Establish, maintain and amend all financial records, including purchase orders, in accordance with executed contracts and any change orders.  

    • Attend all Owner Architect Contractor meetings, Document and follow-up on important decisions and actions from the project meetings.  

    • Ensure all projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.  

    • Manage museum responsibilities and information flow with vendors in all phases of the projects.  

    • Communicate potential challenges before they become bigger issues. Identify, mitigate, and manage project risks.  

    • Review project schedules and assist with RFI’s and submittal review, approval process for museum responsibilities. 

    • Maintain project records, timelines, financials and communications in an organized, efficient manner.  

    • Review, track, and process all project billings and requests for reimbursement, ensuring all costs are appropriate for progress and fall within the project’s budget. This includes, but is not limited to creating purchase orders, amending purchase orders, submitting invoices and reviewing monthly financial reports. 

    • Make sound, well-informed decisions with a strong understanding of the implications of those decisions. 

    • Provide project oversight, updates and quality control on a consistent basis.  

    • Respond to internal and external communications in a timely and professional manner. 

    • Assist in the preparation of presentations and progress reports for the Museum work team, Executive Team,Board of Trustees and other key Museum stakeholders as needed. 

    • Support the Vice President of Capital Projects and Facilities and any departmental members as needed. 

    Qualifications: 

    • Strong passion for the work and mission of the National WWII Museum 

    • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering or related 

    • Minimum of seven years of experience in managing multiple commercial construction projects  

    • Extensive knowledge of office procedures and proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, including Microsoft project or other Schedule Management software, Procore and Bluebeam 

    • Strong attention to detail and creative problem solving 

    • Exceptional oral and written communication skills 

    • Proactive work style with ability to work on multiple projects and to consistently meet deadline schedules 

    • Creativity, organizational skills and good judgment 

    • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well with a wide range of staff and vendors 

    • As needed, be willing to work a flexible schedule that may extend outside of the typical 40 hour work week, including weekends and evenings, to complete tasks and meet deadlines. 

    • Ability to push, pull, and lift weights up to 20 pounds. May require prolonged sitting, standing and/or walking while objects are transported. May require bending, squatting, or reaching and occasional use of equipment.
