    About our Organization:


    The Kaminski House Museum The Kaminski House Museum (KHM) was built in 1769 and stands out as one of the most representative houses of the Georgian style of the era in Georgetown, South Carolina. Built on a bluff overlooking the Sampit River, the Kaminski House is typical of the Low country “single house” style of the mid-18th century. It was bequeathed to the City of Georgetown by Julia Kaminski in 1972 in honor of her late husband, Harold, and mother-in-law. The museum is currently managed by the Friends of the Kaminski House, a non-profit organization. 


    Job Summary:


    Embark on an exciting journey with the Kaminski House Museum as an Assistant Director, joining a dynamic team actively working towards a new strategic plan and vision. In this versatile role, you will play a pivotal part in propelling the organization's continued success and expansion by overseeing critical areas such as education and public programming, marketing, membership, grant writing, and event management.     Responsibilities:


    1. Education and Public Programming:

       - Develop and implement educational programs that align with the museum's mission and engage diverse audiences.

       - Coordinate workshops, lectures, exhibits and other events to enhance visitor experiences, share educational opportunities and foster a deeper understanding of our historic house.


    2. Marketing:

       - Work with the Executive Director to create and execute comprehensive marketing strategies to increase museum visibility and attract diverse audiences.

       - Utilize digital platforms, social media, and traditional marketing channels to promote museum events, exhibits, and membership opportunities.


    3. Membership Management:

       - Develop and implement strategies to grow and retain museum memberships.

       - Engage with members through newsletters, events, and exclusive programs to cultivate a strong sense of community support.


    4. Grant Writing:

       - Identify potential grant opportunities and develop compelling grant proposals to secure funding for museum initiatives and projects.

       - Maintain strong relationships with grantors and donors to ensure continued support.


    5. Weddings and Events:

       - Manage the coordination and execution of weddings, private events, and rentals within the historic house and its grounds.

       - Ensure a seamless experience for clients, coordinating with vendors and overseeing event logistics.

    Qualifications:

     - Bachelor’s degree in Museum Studies, History, Marketing, Communications or a related field.

    - Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    - Strong organizational and project management abilities.

    - Familiarity with the non-profit sector and historic preservation.

    - Strong budgeting skills and financial acumen.

    - Ability to stand for extended periods of time and lift up to 40 pounds as required for the job.

    - Previous experience in museum education, marketing, membership management, grant writing, and event coordination.


    This is not an exhaustive list of job responsibilities.  We are searching for a team player with a flexible mindset willing to adapt to evolving job requirements as needed. We welcome candidates with varying levels of experience and encourage growth within our team. Flexible hours are offered to support work-life balance (30-45 hours a week). Some weekend hours will be required.  Salary Range $34,000-$38,000
