    Provides leadership, coordination, oversight, and vision for the operations of Clemson University's Historic Properties. Directs Historic Properties finances, historic preservation of physical plant, educational activities, research, public programming, communications, strategic planning, and staffing. Maintains appropriate standards of peer institutional review and engages with University Historian on the vision for Historic Properties. Performs other duties as assigned.

    50% - Essential - Historic Properties Operations: 
    Responsible for the oversight of all Historic Properties to include Fort Hill, Hanover House, and Hopewell Plantation. Directs public programming staff including student interns at all properties. Develops and implements long-range plans for the historic house museums in conjunction with the University Historian and the Historic Properties Alumni Advisory Committee (HPAC). Implements policy established by the University and its Board of Trustees based on the University mission and strategic goals. Sets guidelines for professional museum practices in the maintenance, preservation, display of museum objects, and interpretive programs. Completes professional practices for the museum such as acquisition, preservation, and conservation.

    30% - Essential - Fiscal Operations:
    Provides leadership and direction for the financial planning of Historic Properties. Develops annual budgeting requests, executes budget plans, maintains financial records including the annual monetary appropriations from the University and all supplementary funding sources. Directs the formulation of outside-sponsored museum programs. Applies for and manages grants and other sources of funding.

    10% - Essential - Representation: 
    In conjunction with the University Historian, represents Historic Properties both locally and nationally to the media. Serves as an official representative of Historic Properties in front of professional bodies and scholarly organizations. Develops and maintains relationships with peer institution colleagues, visitors, academically linked partners, faculty, members of the University community, and donors. Manages the historic preservation program on campus as liaison to the State Historic Preservation Office under the Department of Archives and History.

    10% - Essential - Collaboration and Outreach: 
    Collaborates with the Department of History within the College of Arts and Humanities to provide practical experience in public history museum work and historical preservation by administering History 2000 - Fort Hill Internship. Maintains relationships with national, regional, and local affiliated organizations enhancing opportunities for professional development, research, and programming.

    Minimum Requirements:

    Education - Bachelor's Degree - Relevant program management experience

    Preferred Requirements:

    Education - Terminal degree in a core field such as history, historic preservation, public history, or museum curation.

    Experience - 3-5 years experience in museums, higher education, or historic properties. 

    Standard Hours: 37.5;  Anticipated Hiring Range: $73,600 - $110,000
