    Position Summary:

    The Newberry Museum is seeking a part-time financial assistant to assist the Executive Director and the Board Treasurer in the maintenance of the Newberry Museum’s financial accounts. Work involves some administrative duties, including data entry, analysis and reconciliation of financial transactions and accounts to determine proper accounting treatment, and payroll management.

    Position Responsibilities:

    -Processes invoices for payment. Posts transactions to accounts; makes account adjustments and reconciles accounts. Processes check runs for these payments.

    -Reconciles and reviews credit card statements and merchant services statements. Analyzes discrepancies and makes adjustments.

    -Verifies check requests for accuracy before processing for payment.

    - Processes and posts financial transactions to accounts.

    -Performs general office clerical tasks as assigned, including data entry into donation management software (CRM).

    -Assists with the museum audit and budget creation.

    -Manages records of funds for museum budget.

    -Maintains working knowledge of various software programs to enhance fundraising and museum operations.

    -Maintains payroll accounts.

    -Performs related work as required.

    Hours and Pay Scale:

    This position is for 20 hours a week, Tuesday-Friday, at $16 an hour. Applicants must be willing to work Saturdays as well as evening hours for special receptions as needed.

    Qualifications & Knowledge Requirements:

    -Accounts maintenance procedures, including account balancing and reconcilement procedures.

    -Computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Word and other Windows-based

    accounting software (QuickBooks, NeonOne experience a plus).

    -Modern office procedures and practices including operation of computers and office appliances.

    Ability to:

    -Maintain accounts and compile reports.

    -Compile data from accounts and prepare reports thereon.

    -Perform arithmetic calculations, quickly and accurately.

    -Follow detailed oral and written instructions.

    -Deal effectively with the public.

    -Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
