    Position:   Marketing and Development Coordinator

    Appointment Type: This is a half-time position, up to 19 hours per week, eligible for a hybrid work schedule.  The hourly range for this position is $18.34- $31.18 with expected starting salary of $21.5570 per hour.

    General Statement of Duties

    The Gaston County Museum of Art & History (GCM) is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Marketing and Development Coordinator. This half-time position is part of the administrative team at GCM, and is responsible for planning and coordinating strategic marketing and communications, maintaining membership databases and mailings, and identifying and cultivating donors and fundraising initiatives. The Marketing and Development Coordinator will work closely with the Director to create, implement, and manage marketing collateral, and plan for stewardship of members and donors.  

    Illustrative Tasks

    • Coordinates the museum’s communications strategy and advertising plan with the Director, museum departments, Board of Trustees, and Gaston County Communications department.  
    • Actively manages a portfolio of current and potential donors, including the development and execution of plans for prospects
    • Plans and coordinates projects related to the cultivation of members and donors
    • Provides Director with individualized plans to move prospects through identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship
    • Manages the fundraising and membership database and tracking systems. Mails membership renewal emails and letters and maintains phone call communications
    • Produces invitations to programs and events, posters, fact sheets, press materials, the Museum website, monthly newsletters and email communications, working closely with museum staff
    • Identifies grant opportunities, maintains schedule of grant deadlines, and drafts proposals and reports

    Knowledge, Abilities & Skills

    Knowledge and experience in fundraising, fundraising techniques, major gift solicitation, and donor relations. Experience working with membership and/or donor databases and a willingness to learn new systems. Excellent writing and communication skills are a must for this position. Genuine interest in history, arts and culture, and a willingness to be part of a creative and motivated team of museum professionals.

    Desired Training & Experience

    Graduation from an accredited college or university with an associate degree is required. 2+ years’ experience in marketing, membership, fundraising, or with a non-profit is necessary for this position. Candidates with grant-writing experience, website management, and the ability to navigate donor databases strongly preferred.

    Special Requirements

    The ability to walk up stairs is required.

    Pay Scale:

    Minimally qualified applicants will start at 25% of the salary range. The expected starting salary is $21.5570 per hour.
