About the position:

The Mississippi Department of Archives and History is searching for three museum educators to join the education team at the Two Mississippi Museums. These educators will play a crucial role in the collaborative development of student learning materials, educational programs, outreach events, and docent programs. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

• ·         Assessing and creating public programs
• ·         Working closely with the Manager of Family and Community Learning and the Manager of Student Learning
• ·         Coordinate with outreach activities
• ·         Recruit volunteers and interns
• ·         Provide support for summer camps
• ·         Lead school group visits
• ·         Develop visitor materials and conduct thematic museum tours, both in-person and virtually
• ·         Offer back-up support for visitor services
• ·         Assist with cleaning and maintenance and represent the museum at community events
• ·         Other duties as assigned by the Department

• ·         Comfortable with public speaking and communicating Mississippi’s history with museum visitors, including K-12 students
