Call for Instructors

The Southeastern Museums Conference (SEMC) is excited to announce an open call for instructor applications for the relaunch of The Jekyll Island Management Institute (JIMI) which will run January 21 - 28, 2025 on Jekyll Island, Georgia.

The 2025 Institute will be structured as a tour of the museum that will allow JIMI participants to identify and discuss best practices in a range of visitor-facing and behind-the-scenes roles in a museum. Rather than taking a deep dive into any particular role, participants will receive an overview and come away with a better understanding of how the roles in a museum work together to form an institution.

We are looking for museum professionals with excellent teaching skills to lead 90-minute sessions during the 8-day Institute. Applicants are invited to submit materials on one topic area or individual subjects within a topic.  Instructors should be able to integrate principles of diversity, equity, accessibility and inclusion as well as the use of current technologies into topics they plan to teach.
