Who we are: At the Computer Museum of America (CMoA) our mission is to preserve examples of the computing artifacts that contributed to the digital revolution, to catalog these historically important artifacts, and to record their surrounding history. Our goal is to ensure these assets are available for study, for exhibition, for education, and to encourage economic and vocational empowerment.

CMoA’s core conviction is that the history of computing contains many revelations about human innovation and creative problem solving. CMoA desires to share those revelations with the widest possible audience, empowering new generations of students, entrepreneurs, workers, and educators to excel.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a new nonprofit museum inspiring a vibrant community of educators, students, creators and entrepreneurs.

The role you will play: CMoA is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual with 1-2 years’ experience working in an archival or museum environment with an interest in the history of technology and the digital revolution. The Archivist Assistant will play an instrumental role in processing, cataloging, cleaning, and digitizing the museum’s vast collection of vintage technology. • Data Entry: Catalog objects using PastPerfect 5.0 museum software.

Duties and priorities may change quickly or frequently; thus, the Archivist Assistant needs to be flexible and willing to change duties depending on the needs of the Collections Archivist. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, be willing to take direction yet be self-motivated, work well independently as well as with others, be flexible and be willing to use a little elbow grease to get the job done.
