    The Curator of Education, Engagement and Learning for the Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Arts (JCSM), under the direction of the director and chief curator, supports JCSM's vision as a highly creative, outward-facing, visitor-centric
    public institution elevating social interactivity and museum participation. The curator ensures delivery of relevant, engaging, authentic, accessible, diverse, and inclusive mission-based experiences, digital resources, and other educational services on campus, in the community and beyond expanding the understanding of the arts. Collaborating with colleagues throughout the Auburn University Arts District and across campus, the curator works to center the museum as a dynamic multidisciplinary space that celebrates visual, decorative and literary arts, as well as music, film and spoken word.

    Create, execute, manage, and evaluate JCSM education, engagement and learning programs and initiatives - on/off campus and on-line - encouraging new, diverse, multi-generational and broad audiences, strengthening participation, and fostering active learning, experimentation and global competence at Auburn University, in the community, region, and state.

    Develop, maintain, and nurture collaborative academic relationships on campus, with Auburn University Arts District staff, creating and implementing multidisciplinary engagement, learning opportunities, and resources connecting museum collections and programming to teaching, research, and outreach.

    Expand and enrich relationships in the community, region, and state, with Auburn University Arts District staff, creating and implementing new models of cultural participation and programming for K-12 students, community organizations, civic entities, under-served populations, and diverse constituencies.

    Establish programmatic impact goals in advance of implementation ensuring mission and strategic alignment, creative engagement, and learning across all demographics. Monitor effectiveness by gathering and analyzing qualitative and quantitative statistics, including attendance and other engagement metrics, for use in evaluation, reports, grants, and other funding proposals.

    Under the supervision of the Museum Director and Chief Curator, manage the education, engagement, and learning department of the museum. Recruit, train, mentor, and supervise education staff and volunteers including full-time, part-time, and student employees; volunteer docents and interns; and contracted security guards.

    Manage the education, engagement, and learning budget including the tracking of income and expenditures, reporting on its progress throughout the fiscal year to the museum director and chief curator.

    Collaborate with museum and Arts District staff investigating, preparing, managing, and evaluating grants that support JCSM's education, engagement, and learning initiatives.

    Perform other duties as assigned.

    Demonstrable experience in museum program development, digital inter-actives, and staff and budget oversight within a department. Knowledge of current cultural field best practices, art-based pedagogies, and visitor studies paired with associated implementation efforts and projects. Collaborative success with university faculty, students, and partners a plus, as is with community, regional, state, national, and international stakeholders. Excellent customer service record. Recognized experience in public speaking and superior organizational, writing and verbal communication skills

    Bachelor's Degree in Arts Education, Museum Studies, Public Humanities, Cultural Studies or related field and 4 years experience.

    Or a Master's Degree in Arts Education, Museum Studies, Public Humanities, Cultural Studies or related field and 2 years of experience.
