    Job Title: One Orlando Registrar (Two vacancies available)

    The Orange County Regional History Center is seeking two highly qualified individuals to fill the temporary position of One Orlando Registrar. The History Center is a national multi-award-winning, AAM accredited, and Smithsonian affiliated institution centered around its mission: to serve as the gateway for community engagement, education, and inspiration by preserving and sharing Central Florida’s continually unfolding story.

    The History Center is seeking two temporary Registrars to work with the One Orlando Collection Initiative by processing and digitizing memorial items from the Orlando Pulse nightclub shooting that took place on June 12, 2016. This is a temporary, full-time position within the collections department of the Orange County Regional History Center.

    Reports to:  Curator of Collections

    Representative Duties

    • Communicate and work with a variety of organizations, institutions, and individuals within the area to collect materials related to the event.
    • Participates in daily collections management of items related to the event: conducts custodial responsibilities in acquiring and preserving objects, including implementing methods for acquisition, preservation, and conservation of artifacts, art, photographs, oral histories, documentary records, digital archives, and social and news media.
    • Assists in the creation of an online memorial website encompassing all collected materials.
    • Works with the marketing department to enhance awareness of the museum’s collections with both internal and external audiences.

    ·         Assists with special events at the museum.

    • Performs other related duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications

    ·         Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in museum studies, public history, history, library sciences, or closely related field and two years of museum registration or collections experience.

    ·         Must have strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.


    • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master’s degree in library science, public history, museum studies, history, or a closely related field.
    • Effective and exceptional written and verbal communication skills with both internal teams and external stakeholders and donors, as well as in public speaking.
    • Possesses a strong working knowledge of museum best practices.
    • Familiarity with Proficio and Preservica databases.
    • Fluency in Spanish and English.

    The above description and qualifications are not all-inclusive and represent a majority of the key responsibilities of this position. Other duties may be assigned as required to fulfill the directives of the strategic plan or the museum. Work environment is a combination of office setting with some driving between the office to the museum and off-site storage; must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.

    *Final Candidates must successfully pass a background screening and fingerprinting, must be able to live and work in the United States, and will be required to pass a drug test. Interview and relocation expenses are not offered.

    Additional Information:

    Hours Per Week: 40 Hours, 6 months with renewal possible

    Schedule: Generally, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, Monday – Friday, evenings and weekends may be required.

    Primary Work Location:  Orange County Regional History Center, 65 E. Central Blvd., Orlando, FL 32801 with portions of time spent at the offsite facility located approximately 30 minutes from

    Pay: $19.50/hour, non-exempt, no benefits but parking is provided
