TRANSPORTATION AND HOUSING WITH PAID UTILITIES IS PROVIDED!
This position is responsible for managing the total operation, facilities, lands, and personnel of Arkansas Museum of Natural Resources. Facilities include a 21,000 sqft. museum and 10,000 sqft. collection management facility with 20,000+ objects that collects, preserves, and interprets the petroleum and brine industry of South Arkansas, in particular the oil boom of the 1920's. Job duties include supervision of staff, completing performance appraisals, preparing, and approving work schedules, enforcing policy and procedures, maintain performance file notes, and participating in the planning and development of the museum. This position also prepares and manages the museum budget, keeps financial records, and creates reports, project and asset requests as needed. Applicant will have regular contact with the public which includes working with the Friends of AMNR and giving oral presentations to various local, civic, and school groups concerning the historical and cultural aspects of the museum and surrounding areas. Strong communication and public relation skills are necessary. Applicants must have a valid driver's license. Some weekend and holiday work will be required. Applicant will be required to live in park house and answer alarm calls. A criminal background check is required.
Park House is a 3-4 bedroom/2 bathroom, 1770 sqft house. Located on a corner lot 2.5 miles from the museum and 1/2 mile from the Smackover School District. Smackover is located 10 minutes from El Dorado and 20 minutes from Camden, AR and both cities are approximately 20,000 residents. Smackover has an excellent school district and is only 15 miles from the growing Murphy Art's District, which is a world renowned performing arts and entertainment district located in El Dorado. Park also provides a state vehicle for transportation.
This position offers a full benefit package including paid holidays, annual and sick leave, health insurance and retirement pension.
Applicants must meet or exceed the following qualifications: The formal educational equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in business, history, anthropology, museum management, Park Management, or a related field; plus, three years of experience in museum or park management, including two years in a supervisory capacity.
