Norman Rockwell: THE MAN BEHIND THE CANVAS, touring exhibition will be available Fall 2015- Fall 2016
Organized at the LaGrange Art Museum by Karen Briggs, Executive Director
This exhibit features original, candid photographs of America’s iconic illustrator Norman Rockwell. Norman Rockwell needs little introduction, and this exhibit is not meant to be a survey course in Rockwell illustration. It is a rare and unusual opportunity to get a candid glimpse of the man who privately, humbly, with dry Yankee wit and much wisdom, showed us a better version of ourselves.
This exhibit explores the man behind the canvas through the lens of Louis Lamone, and introduces America’s most beloved illustrator in a never-before-seen glimpse into his private life through select anecdotal and personal memorabilia and over 100 black and white photographs from the Charles & Joy Flint Collection.
Also featured are 100 Saturday Evening Post covers spaning1936–1963.
