    The LSU Museum of Art is currently seeking an entrepreneurial communications professional to develop, manage, and implement marketing and public relation strategies that will result in audience growth, increased visibility, and sustained philanthropic giving. The incumbent will be responsible for creatively developing marketing strategies utilizing a combination of traditional and new media marketing techniques to promote the Museum’s exhibitions, programs, and events on a tight budget.

    Job Duties:

    Communications and Public Relations:

    • ·         Establish and maintain a strong & consistent brand identity for the LSU Museum of Art
    • ·         Develop & implement communications plan designed to promote a positive image of the Museum of Art, & enhance awareness of the Museum in the city and region
    • ·         Coordinate all marketing & promotional activities in order to creatively Museum exhibitions, education and public programs, fundraising efforts, membership, special events, Museum Store
    • ·         Develop & maintain close working relationships with a variety of area media and news representatives
    • ·         Act as press liaison, coordinating interviews, tours, and press previews
    • ·         Coordinate the Museum for TV & radio, and community group appearances and prepare the Executive Director of other staff as appropriate.
    • ·         Research & draft press releases, oversee distribution to press lists, facilitate subsequent inquires
    • ·         Maintain media contact database (consolidate and update contact lists; research specific media contacts and outlets for upcoming exhibitions and programs)
    • ·         Facilitate and maintain partnerships with other cultural institutions and key city and tourism organization for city-wide promotion and tourism efforts
    • ·         Maintain a close working relationship with LSU Division of Strategic Communications, including ensuring all external content is aligned with the LSU Style Guide.Track and manage area budget and expenses and any necessary bidding processes.

    Graphic Design:

    • ·         Design and develop graphic materials for all communication and marketing purposes
    • ·         Work with the Development Department on donor stewardship pieces
    • ·         Maintain a library of current high resolution images for promotional purposes
    • ·         Edit and produce informational and/or marketing videos as needed
    • ·         Publications and print production management

    Website Management:

    • ·         Works with other Museum departments to gather & create content for marketing usage
    • ·         Maintain integrity and usability of the Museum’s website
    • ·         Manages the calendar, on-line forms, etc.
    • ·         Works with other Museum staff to update/create website pages as needed
    • ·         Manages ongoing website development projects, including enhancements

    Digital Communication and Social Media:

    • ·         Oversee all digital communication, including weekly cross-departmental e-blast.
    • ·         Create & maintain a social media editorial calendar.
    • ·         Develop creative social media campaigns.
    • ·         Create, track & report on metrics to evaluate effectiveness of campaigns and initiatives.
    • ·         Empower staff as creative partners for social media
    • ·         5%- Visitor and Member Engagement
    • ·         Leads analysis of Museum visitors and collaborates with other staff to build a research-based approach to reach untapped markets & audiences.
    • ·         Work across Museum departments to define strategies to more effectively reach & engage visitors & new audiences in the Museum’s galleries
    • ·         May be requested to perform other job-related tasks

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Education Level: Bachelor's

    Specific Degree: Marketing, Communications, Advertising, Public Relations, or related field

    Years of Experience: Minimum of 3 years experience in marketing and/or public relations

    Specific Experience: Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written & verbal communication skills. Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, photoshop, social media, website management, & email marketing. Ability to work independently & collaboratively within a team.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Education Level: Master's

    Years of Experience: 5 plus years of experience

    Specific Experience: Experience in arts or cultural marketing, photography, Final Cut Pro, Squarespace CMS, and experience with the press & media.

    Special or Physical Qualifications:

    Must be able to work weekends and evenings, as needed.

    Normal office conditions plus indoor & outdoor event activities requiring some walking & lifting up to 25 pounds.

    May be asked to show examples of previous communications & graphic design work & evidence of effectiveness.
