The Louisiana State Museum is seeking a Director of Curatorial Services who appreciates that there is the history of art, and there is the art of history.

The Louisiana State Museum is looking for a Director of Curatorial Services—a thinker and an administrator who will help the institution:

-Develop exhibitions that engage the past and the present, as they engage visitors of all ages

-Oversee exhibition design, production, and installation

-Identify, cultivate, hire and manage outside curators, artists, art historians, and historians to develop or consult on exhibition and special projects

-Oversee the Museum’s collections department including activities related to collections storage management, loans, accessions and de-accessions, and conservation

-Provide leadership and direction in the development and execution of the Museum’s interpretive strategies and efforts

-Provide leadership and direction in the development of the Museum’s education programs and activities

-Develop and create engaging public programs, lectures, and other engaging and educational museum activities

-Create detailed budgets and all other appropriate financial oversight for all these activities

-Develop and update strategic, exhibitions, collections, and conservation plans

The successful candidate will be ingenious and practical, creative and detail-oriented, dynamic and disciplined; a compelling communicator, consensus-builder, and team player with a strong record of both content and administrative accomplishment.
