Honoring the Past, Leading the Present, Shaping the Future

Montgomery’s history is a powerful lens for understanding where we’ve been, where we are, and where we must go. This dynamic panel launches the SEMC 2025 theme, Future Forward, by exploring the past, present, and future of Montgomery as a guide for courage and advocacy. Panelists will share personal stories of bravery and activism during the Civil Rights Movement, reflect on how leadership and responsibility are evolving today, and envision a future where museums and cultural institutions serve as catalysts for justice, healing, and inclusion.

Join us as we honor the groundwork laid by those who came before, draw strength from their legacy in the present, and chart a bold path forward. The march continues—will you take the next step?
