    Departmental Overview: Charged with the mission of educating varied audiences about country music, the Education Department develops programs and resources that illuminate the stories, themes, and music explored in the museums galleries. Serving nearly 100,000 people per year through 1,000 programs, we support students of all ages, from school groups and families who engage in hands-on learning activities to general museum guests who experience performance presentations during their visit. A creative and curious team, our education staff is composed of traditional and nontraditional educators, including classroom teachers, visual artists, historians, museum educators, and professional musicians. Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum educators share a passion for country music, popular culture, and lifelong learning and regularly collaborate to develop and implement dynamic educational offerings commensurate with one of the most-visited history museums in America.


    Job Overview: The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum seeks an experienced educator with a background in museums and/or schools to manage our school programs team. This charismatic, creative, and passionate individual will oversee programs that serve K-12 students at the museum, in schools, and via video conference. Key responsibilities include designing, facilitating, and administering curriculum-aligned services; serving as lead teacher; supervising full time, hourly, and contract staff; serving and engaging school partners; and evaluating all school program activities. The School Programs Manager will combine best practices in museum education, including object-based and inquiry-based learning, to support curriculum subject areas and contribute to the academic success of students who visit the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, as well as participate in the continued success and growth of the Taylor Swift Education Center.


    Specific Job Duties:

    Manage the school programs coordinator, education programs assistant, and on-call educator staff


    Train educators and volunteers who support school programs, including guided tours of the museum galleries


    Serve as lead teacher for all school programs, providing and overseeing instruction of programs as well as ensuring educational value of all curriculum-supporting activities


    Oversee school program bookings and scheduling


    Oversee all aspects of distance learning programming, including maintaining program information on partner websites, facilitating programs, and developing new learning experiences


    Recruit and train teaching artists and prepare them to work with students


    Oversee internal communications regarding school programs to ensure information is shared with other departments


    Oversee program evaluation by collecting feedback from various audiences, analyzing outcomes, and making recommendations that ensure programmatic goals are met


    Oversee development of curriculum-aligned lesson materials and maintain and develop web resources in the digital resource portal


    Oversee school programs areas on the museum website and assist with school programs marketing initiatives


    Oversee department record-keeping, including tracking participation data for accurate reporting


    Create and deliver high-quality professional development programs for educators, including planning and leading workshop modules


    Provide off-site programming, including developing and leading curriculum for partner schools


    Collaborate with the youth and family programs team to co-develop resources and materials that can serve both a school and family audience.


    Minimum Qualifications:

    Masters degree in education, museum studies, or related field


    A minimum of 5 years work history in a museum or school


    A minimum of 3 years supervisory experience


    Significant understanding of museum education practices, including object-based and inquiry-based learning, as well as knowledge of K-12 curriculum and standards


    Comfort navigating databases and analyzing reports


    Proven ability to write high-quality, outcome-based lesson plans/curriculum


    Proven success in teaching students


    Previous experience guiding professional development programs for adult educators


    Previous experience supervising staff and/or volunteers


    Preferred Qualifications:

    Proficiency on a musical instrument


    Knowledge of ELA, STEAM, and arts integration


    Experience with Tessitura database


    Passion for and deep knowledge of country music
