Mentor Program Links New and Experienced Museum Professionals

The SEMC Mentor Program is designed to link experienced museum professionals with those who are new to the field or find themselves in positions with unfamiliar responsibilities.

Is this your first museum position? Have you been promoted or have you changed jobs within the museum world?

Or, are you a museum professional that would like to help others in the field?

Studies have shown that people who are mentored perform better, have more confidence in the workplace and are more likely to act as mentors themselves at some point in their career. Mentoring has the potential to build leadership throughout the field.

A mentor can help the mentee learn new skills, strengthen areas that are challenging, and establish and achieve personal or professional goals. Mentors and mentees are matched according to similar job responsibilities and/or areas of interest or research. The arrangement is informal and can be tailored to each particular match.
