Developed by the Winston-Salem Local Arrangements Committee, the 2026 theme, Forged in Culture – Focused on the Future, celebrates the deep cultural and artistic roots that have shaped Winston-Salem and the Southeast, while also looking ahead to how museums and cultural institutions can evolve with purpose, creativity, and resilience. This year’s Annual Meeting also marks SEMC’s 75th anniversary, offering an opportunity to reflect on the organization’s legacy while envisioning its future.

This theme invites us to:

Honor the cultural legacies that define our communities;
Strengthen connections between art, history, and innovation; and
Envision the future of museums as inclusive, adaptive spaces that lead with intention.

As we gather in Winston-Salem—a city where art, history, and industry have long intertwined—we will explore how collaboration, creativity, and cultural identity can forge a shared future for museums across the Southeast, while celebrating 75 years of SEMC’s impact and community.

The official conference hotel is the Marriott Winston-Salem (425 N. Cherry Street).Staying in the official headquarters hotel makes connecting with colleagues easier and helps us keep the Annual Meeting affordable for attendees. 2026 Exhibition Competition FEE PAYMENT ONLY (20 Mar 2026)

A one-time $45 administrative fee helps cover the costs associated with managing submissions, coordinating jurors, and administering the review process. You do not need to pay for each individual entry.

Payment must be received by June 30, 2026, for competition entries to be considered. Thank you for your support of SEMC!
